Python: Do 3D slices stack?
I'm iterating over a list of 2D arrays to produce a 3D array of the same shape. Is it possible to stack the 3D slices, e.g. if I have a 3D array like so:
[[[1,2,3],[4,5,6],[7,8,9]]]
and I want to iterate over the slices:
[[[1,2,3],[4,5,6],[7,8,9]]]
[[[1,2,3],[4,5,6]]]
[[[1,2,3]]]
Is this possible, or should I iterate over it as a 2D array?
A:
The answer is yes, if you don't have an array you are slicing that is bigger than the one you are slicing, and for the life of me I can't think of an example that would need that.
This will work for example:
import numpy as np
# Create sample input
a = np.arange(24).reshape(2,2,3)
# Get list of indices
indices = [slice(0, i) for i in range(2)]
# Create new array
new_array = np.empty(a.shape[:-1])
# Iterate through them all
for i in indices:
new_array[i] = a[i] be359ba680
